The foundation stone laying ceremony for the Kempinski The Wave, Muscat Hotel was held on Wednesday, under the patronage of H E Sheikh al Fadhl bin Mohammed al Harthi, secretary general of the Council of Ministers.
Speaking at the event Sheikh Rashid bin Saif al Saadi, chairman of Omani Hospitality Company (OHC) thanked all those involved with the project. He added that the hotel is expected to generate 600 direct jobs on completion.
The hotel, owned by OHC will also bring in added value to the tourism sector in the sultanate, he added.
“The project aims to establish a five-star hotel over 45,000sq m. The hotel will have 309 rooms and 77 hotel apartments, in addition to a range of other facilities.
“This includes hall rooms that can accommodate more than 750 people, 12 local and international restaurants and cafés, in addition to recreational and health facilities including tennis courts, a spa and swimming pools,” said Saadi.
The hotel will be operated and managed by Kempinski Hotels, an international chain established in 1897 which, currently, manages and operates 74 hotels in 30 countries all over the world.
